About Allen Ruyle

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Complex Trauma Professional (CCTP-II) in private practice in San Diego, California providing individual, couple and group psychotherapy. A veteran of the armed forces, I have lived in San Diego for nearly 35 years and earned my Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from San Diego State University.

I am also a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP), a clinical mental health professional who meets nationally accepted criteria of education, training and experience in group psychotherapy. A CGP is an expert in group psychotherapy and an ethical practitioner who is committed to group psychotherapy as an important and independent form of treatment.

While I enjoy having a general practice working with a wide variety of issues and problems, I focus on working with men who have been targets of non-consensual sex. My practice also involves significant work in substance abuse and dependence, grief and loss, issues related to aging and caregiving for the elderly.

Studies indicate that one of the primary determinants of success in therapy is a strong therapeutic alliance between the therapist and client. My approach is client-centered, warm, supportive and empathic. I work hard to build the safe space for my clients to take risks and create long-lasting positive change.
